We wish to express our sincere appreciation for all the kindness shown at the passing of the late Annie Gladys Smith. It is with grateful hearts that we acknowledge the dedicated team at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital that ensured Annoe’s comfort at all times. And to the wonderful support from Community Health Team over the past 3 years. We are also thankful for the compassion and guidance from the staff at Fillatre’s Funeral Home.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Annie Gladys Smith at the Palliative Care Unit at WMRH on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter Hugh Smith (Smitty). She was the last member of the Lawrence family, predeceased by her parents Stephen and Laura Lawrence and her thirteen siblings, including her twin sister Ethel.

Mourning her loss is a large circle of family and friends. Annie will be remembered for her sharp mind, quick wit and beautiful smile. She loved a good game of kings cribbage, knitting, reading, and watching her favourite games shows and curling on television. She was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Campaign and a TOPS Member.

Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel on Sunday from 1-2 p.m. from where the funeral will take place at 2:00 p.m. with The Rev. Canon Francis Elgar officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, no flowers request, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
