Obituary of John (Junior) Gordon Davis (CARD OF THANKS)

It is with sincere thanks that the family of the late John Gordon Davis wish to express appreciation for all the kindness during this difficult time.

Thanks to all who visited the funeral home and the funeral. Thank you to all who telephoned, brought food and flowers and made memorial donations. Thanks to the Golden Meadows 50+ Club for use of the hall and the members who set up and cleaned up after the reception. Thank you to all the Guardian Angels at Valleyside WLTC who cared for him the past year.

Thank you to Rev. Terry Loder, Sheila, Ken and Ray for the beautiful church service and Dennis Barnes for playing.

Thank you to the staff at Fillatre’s who went above and beyond for us.

John (Junior) Gordon Davis

May 1, 1944 – August 15, 2025

Meadows, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Davis announce his passing on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Valleyside, WLTC with his family by his side.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 58 years Estelle (nee Wicks); his sons: Glenn and Darren (Jodi); his special grandchildren: Ashley, Jack, Abigail, Grace, Sara and Steven, whom he loved dearly. Also left to mourn his sisters: Avril Harris and Lorraine Brake (Cyril); brother Melvin (June); sister-in-law Marguerite Hoyles; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and furry friends. Louie and Max.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Davis, sisters Irene Anderson and Jean Head, brothers-in-law George Wicks, Percy Hoyles, Clyde Harris and Eric Head.

John was cared for the past year by the guardian angels at Valleyside, WLTC. We can’t thank them enough for the care they gave both him and his family.

He volunteered all his life to working for the church. He was treasurer for 30 years and served on many committees.

Visitation will take place on Monday, august 18 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue. The funeral service will take place at Holy Trinity Church, Meadows on Tuesday, August 19, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Terry Loder officiating.

Cremation will follow with interment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Church.

Reception to follow at Golden Meadows Seniors Club, North Shore Highway, Meadows, all are welcomed.
