Obituary of Roy Manuel
Roy Manuel
February 17, 1949 - August 13, 2025
Pasadena, NL
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Manuel, who left us peacefully on August 13, 2025, with family by his side at the age of 76. Roy’s deep roots were in Griquet, NL where he grew up fishing and building the foundation for the hardworking life he would go on to live. Roy was known best for his ability to do anything. No task too big or too small, and jobs seemingly impossible, he would tackle with confidence and ease. Roy was also known for his generosity, positivity, and unwavering love for his family.
After retiring from a career he loved as a building inspector for the government, Roy enjoyed more than 20 years of well-earned leisure. He spent his time out in boat cod fishing, wintering in Florida, operating his motel, trouting, making his famous fish and brewis during cook ups, planting gardens, being in the woods, berry picking, and most of all being around family and friends.
Above all, Roy cherished his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His greatest joy came from spending time with those closest to him, sharing stories, watching hockey, offering advice, and the lessons of a life well lived.
Roy will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Helen, son Aaron (Elodie), daughter Andrea (Carlson), his pride and joy, grandson Noah (his father Paul), and his grandchildren by love Ethan and Breanna. Roy will also be missed tremendously by his brother Percy (Josephine), sisters Ruby (Phil), Bessie (Ray), Violet (Paul), Geraldine (Colin), Juanita (Boyd), Camella (Tony), Brothers-in-law Gerald (Marg), Glenn (Julia), Bruce and sister-in-law Evelyn (Bill). In addition Roy will be fondly remembered as their tormenting, fun-loving uncle by Leona, Ina, Sharron, Jerome, Jason, Keith, Craig, Natalie, Jamie, Amanda, Megan, Christina, Cory, Darryl, Marcel, Cindy, Deaon, Bob, Robin, Krista, Ashley, Trent, Tracey, Jamie, Jason, Shane, Mason, Amanda, Ryan, & Evan. Additionally, Roy will be greatly missed by a large circle of cousins, great-nieces and nephews, and friends from far and near.
Roy was predeceased by his parents Roland and Margaret Manuel, brother Don, sisters, Audrey, Rose, Minnie, and Priscella, parents-in-law Boyce and Minnie Sharpe, and brothers-in-law Ron, Fred, Junior, and sister-in-law Helene.
Roy left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him, his memory will live on forever.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the physicians, nurses and support staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital and the Health Science Centre for their excellent care, professionalism and compassion.
A funeral service officiated by Rev. Jocelyn Cook will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025 at the Humber Valley United Church on 9 Church Street in Pasadena, NL at 2:00pm immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at the Pasadena Seniors Club at 14 Tenth Ave. Pasadena.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Humber Valley United Church, Pasadena, NL. E-tranfers may be sent to hvuchurch@gmail.com
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in knowing that Roy’s legacy of love, hard work, optimism, and kindness will continue to guide us in the days ahead.
