Rachel Marie Darrigan
October 3, 1945 - August 21, 2025
With sadness in our hearts, the family of Rachel Marie Darrigan announce her passing on August 21, 2025 after a short stay at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL. She was 79 years old.
Rachel was born in Port Saunders, NL on October 3, 1945 to Macavoy and Cora Lavers where she was raised with 15 siblings. Rachel moved to Corner Brook and shortly after met her husband, Spencer. Together they built a life in Curling with their three children Marie, Nancy and Shane.
Rachel devoted her life to her family. Fresh baked bread, cookies and warm hugs could always be found in her kitchen. Rachel also enjoyed healthy competition spending many evenings at the Echo Club enjoying a card game with special friends Mary and Anne.
Rachel was predeceased by her parents Mac and Cora Lavers; parent in-laws Jeremiah (Jerry) and Rose Darrigan; siblings Ellen Lavers, Leona Snow (Bernard), Selma Knott (Walter), Norbert Lavers (Laverne), Cyndi Murphy (Shawn), Debbie VanWyck (Tim)
Leaving to mourn with many wonderful memories are her husband Spencer; daughter Marie Bartlett (Glenn), daughter Nancy Rogalsky (Gord) and son Shane (Tracey); grandchildren Patricia Rumbolt (Ryan), Renee Bartlett (Ali), Sarah Mitchell (Bilal), Katelyn Darrigan, Laura Bartlett (Carson) and Emily Mitchell (Walker); and precious great-grandchildren Ava, Jackson and Hamish. Also leaving to mourn, sisters Doreen Aucoin (Gordon deceased); Odilia Ryan (Joseph deceased); Zeta Dyke (Brian) and brothers Alfred Lavers (Sue), Pius Lavers (Nora), Ed Lavers (Phyllis), Adelor Lavers (Nita), Herb Lavers, Mac Lavers (Mildred); sisters-in-law Maisie Warford (Victor deceased), Ada O’Reilly (John deceased) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
As per Rachel's wishes cremation has taken place. A vsitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home and Chapel on St. Mark’s Ave, Corner Brook, NL on Monday, August 25 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 3:00 pm at Fillatre’s Chapel with Rev.Cynthia Turner officiating.
Donations can be made to St. Ambrose Anglican Church or a charity of one’s choice.
