Helen Ruth Farnell

February 5, 1952 – August 22, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Ruth Farnell, a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and love touched all who knew her.

Helen shared her life with her beloved husband, the late Karl Cyril Farnell, and together they built a lifetime of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She will be remembered as a woman of quiet strength, steady compassion, and a heart that always had room for family and friends.

Helen leaves behind her loving siblings Evelyn Veniot, Joseph Ruth, Ivy (Joseph) Gallant, Malvina Taylor, Patrick Ruth, June (Calvin) Taylor, Judy (Gord) Batt, and Abe (Debbie) Ruth, along with her Aunt Marina Lesofski and Uncle Reginald Lucas as well as many nieces and nephews who adored her dearly. She is also fondly remembered by her brothers-and sisters-in-law Georgina Taylor, Gale Moffett, Sharon Pike, and Bruce Farnell, who cherished her as part of their family.

She cherished the company of her lifelong and special friends, including Christina Payne and John Neil, along with many others whose friendships enriched her life.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Karl, and her parents Chesley and Dorothy Ruth.

Helen worked for many years at sea as a cook, a career that reflected both her strong work ethic and her generous spirit. Just as she nourished her shipmates with good food, she nourished her family and friends with love and care.

Helen’s life was a true reflection of generosity and kindness, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

Helen's family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the ICU at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for their dedication, compassion and care during Helen's final days.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Ave, Corner Brook, NL on Saturday, August 30 from 12-2pm with the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm, Reverend Terry Loder officiating, interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please honor Helen by carrying out a simple act of kindness in her memory, sharing the love and warmth she gave so freely.
