It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clayton James Reid announce his passing on Monday, August 25, 2025 at the Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit at the age of 86 years.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 62 years Elizabeth “Libby” (nee Davis); children: Bruce (Janine); Joy (Lisa), James (Tara) and Todd (Tracy); grandchildren: Dylan (Julie), Brady, Grace, Andrew, Eric, Vinny and Liam; brothers and sisters: Tom (Audrey), Ruth, Millie (Margaret), Ben (Judith), Clifford (Jean) and Samantha; sisters and brothers-in-law: Alvena, Harry (Doris), Edgar, Dorothy, Muriel (Tom), Joanne, Bill (Jody), Robin (Debbie), Cindy (David), David (Kimberly), Callie (Darrel) and Harry; close friends Darryl McGillivary and Dave Bruce; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents James and Ida, brother Ralph, brothers-in-law Carl, Bruce, Keith, Bill and Albert, sisters-in-law Elaine (Bruce), Ellen and Evelyn, parents-in-law Edgar “Joe” and Bertie.

Clayton was a son, brother, husband, brother-in-law, father, father-in-law and grandfather. He loves his family and would proudly share stories of all us. His other love was sports and boy did he love sports! He played hockey, broomball, softball, soccer, curling, golf, tennis, darts, bowling, cross-country skiing, swimming, physical fitness with Fred Carberry, running and cycling.

Clayton’s hobby was growing berries, cherries, tomatoes and rhubarb. He would use the berries, cherries, and rhubarb to make wine. He made red current, josta berry, saskatoon berry, mixed berry, cranberry and rhubarb wine. Many a bottle was shared with friends and family often playing a game of cards.

Thank you to all the angels on the Palliative Care Unit and to Dr. Ryan, White, and Keating.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 30 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue. The funeral service will he held on Sunday, August 31 at 1:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Clarence Street with Rev. Canon Tanya White officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to All Saints Anglican Memorial Fund, the Canadian Cancer Society or the WMRH Foundation.
