Joe (Joseph) James Pieroway
Stephenville Crossing, NL
Feb. 28, 1939 – Aug. 31, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe (Joseph) James Pieroway, who left us peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on February 28, 1939, Joe was a proud lifelong resident of Stephenville Crossing, NL. He worked for 35 years at the Linerboard Mill and the Abitibi Mill, retiring at the age of 62. Joe was a hardworking man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures and gave his best to everything he did.
Joe was known for his love of camping, playing guitar, and entertaining everyone around him. He lived life to the fullest, always surrounded by laughter, music, and the warmth of family and friends. His quick wit, big heart, and vibrant personality made him the life of the party wherever he went.
He leaves behind his loving wife Marie (Parsons), daughter Michele (Rodney), and son Billy (William). He was a proud grandfather to Deidra (Corey) and a cherished great-grandfather to Cobi and Dustyn. Joe also shared a special bond as an embraced member of the family Gary.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, George and Florence Pieroway, and his son-in-law Roger. He is also reunited with his late sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and many beloved extended family and friends who passed before him.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to his niece Florence, whose strength and support meant so much during a difficult time. Special thanks to Corey, who Joe always had a job ready for every time he visited, and who never hesitated to lend a hand when needed. Deep appreciation also goes to Gary, who was just a phone call away — always ready to help with everything from rides to meals, offering his support without hesitation.
A sincere thank you to his nephew Jerry, who worked at the hospital, for making sure Joe was comfortable every day — your care and presence brought peace and reassurance when it mattered most.
Thanks as well to the doctors and staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital (STRH) in Stephenville, NL for their compassionate care, and to Chris Shelley, who brought joy and comfort in Joe’s final days through their shared love of music and guitar. The family also extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who reached out to offer support — your kindness will never be forgotten.
