FANNIE LOUISE LAYDEN
MARCH 25,1937-SEPTEMBER 13,2025
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Fannie Layden announce her passing on September 13, 2025 at Long Tern Care, Labrador Health Centre, Forteau, NL at the age of 88 years.
Fannie was known for her warm smile and quiet, gentle spirit. She was no stranger to hard work, from the fishing boat to the sewing machine where she spent hours sewing for other people of the community along with her own family’s needs. Her house was always open to guests and had an open door invitation where at any given time you would find friends sitting at her table. She valued her friends and appreciated every one. Her presence will be missed but she’s at home in heaven where her heart longed to be. Her love and legacy will live on in her family, along with many others who knew and loved her.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her son Randell (Valda) and daughter Dalphine (Derek), grandchildren: Sheena (Trent), Joshua (Jessica), Lucas (Dominique), great grandchild Keegan Layden, special friends Kelsey and Kassidy, brothers: Hubert (Thelma), Harrison (Peggy), Sterling (Julia) and sister Gladys (Leonard), as well as other relatives and friends.
Fannie was predeceased by husband Roland, parents Allan and Susanna Butt, sister Effie and brothers Stanford and Stewart
Funeral service will be on September 16, 2025 at 10:30 am, Red Bay Gospel Hall with Mr. David Swan officiating. Interment to follow at Red Bay Gospel Hall Cemetery
The family would like to offer special thanks to the Staff at Long Term Care, Forteau for the amazing care and compassion in the last 15 months that Mom resided in your care. Thanks to all those who visited, brought food and helped in any way during this difficult time.
