Obituary of Louis Theodore Alteen

Louis T. Alteen died peaceful on Monday, September 15^th, at Western Memorial Palliative Care Unit in his 91^st year. He leaves to mourn the love of his life Elizabeth (Walker) with whom he shared 68 amazing years, his only child Ann (Chaffey), son-in -law David and his Pal, grandson Michael. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In recent years, many people helped Lou and Elizabeth stay in their home, you are part of that extended family.

Lou was the ninth child of Louis and Sophie (Neima). He was pre-deceased by all his siblings and their spouses: Viola (Salhaney), Lilian (Ritza), Wally, Nick, Muriel (Michael), Fred, Doug, and Laurie.

Born in Amherst NS, Lou moved to Newfoundland as a young man in 1952 to with work with his brother Nick who had opened National Shoe Store in 1939. From that time, Corner Brook was home! His volunteer service in Corner Brook was vast and considerable; those who served with him can attest to this.

Visitation is Wednesday, Sept 17^th, 2-4 and 7-9 at Fillatre’s Funeral home 4 St. Mark’s Ave, Corner Brook, NL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Sept 18^th at 10:00 am at The Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer and Immaculate Conception with Father Ed Terry officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
