Patrick Raymond Kenny

October 9, 1937 – September 17, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Patrick Kenny announce his peaceful passing on September 17, 2025 at the Western Long Term Care home (Natures Haven) in Corner Brook, NL at the age of 87.

Patrick Raymond Kenny was born on October 9, 1937, in the beautiful community of Fermeuse, on Newfoundland’s Southern Shore. He grew up in a traditional saltbox house by the ocean, surrounded by the love and laughter of his 10 siblings. Patrick often spoke fondly of his childhood and the deep roots he held in his hometown.

At just 16 years old, Patrick set off to Goose Bay in search of work, demonstrating the ambition and work ethic that would define his life. He eventually returned to Newfoundland, where fate introduced him to Agnes Murphy of Calvert. The two married on November 22, 1958, on the Southern Shore, beginning a lifelong journey together.

The newlyweds returned to Happy Valley-Goose Bay to start their family, later relocating to Placentia, then once again back to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, before finally settling in Deer Lake in 1972 — the community Patrick would come to call home.

In Deer Lake, Patrick became a pillar of community spirit and volunteerism. He dedicated countless hours to Deer Lake Minor Hockey, helping to draft the original by-laws and supporting young athletes as a coach and mentor. Whether it was hockey, softball, or ringette, Patrick could always be found at the Hodder Memorial Recreation Complex, offering his time and guidance to local youth.

Patrick’s commitment to service extended beyond the rink. He was an active member of the Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus, always lending a helping hand where it was needed most. A man of deep faith, he was a long-time parishioner at Immaculate Conception Parish, where he volunteered in various roles over the years.

Patrick touched many lives through his warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his community. His legacy lives on in the countless individuals he coached, mentored, and served.

He leaves to mourn his children Damian, Alvin (Shirley), Glendine (Robert) Cull and Ian (Niki); grandchildren Jonathon & Jason of Fort McMurray, AB, Stephanie (Matty Shaw) of Dartmouth NS, Kristin of Seoul, South Korea, Jesse and Ty of Fort McMurray. Great grandchildren Madelyn and Kelsey Shaw. Step grandchildren Sherry Ryan, Tracy Cull and Connie Cull. Step great grandchildren Kyle and Chase Kendell, Rebecca Ryan, Katie and Jadyn Taylor.
