Obituary of Susanna Margaret Letto

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Susanna Margaret Letto (nee Barney) announces her passing at Forteau Long Term Care on September 21, 2025, at the age of 87 years.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children, Wanda (Wade), Ross, Lorena (Mark), and Elva (Chris); her grandchildren, Eric Chislett, Amanda Letto, Jeremy Letto, Miranda Lavallee, Mitchell Letto, Danielle Letto Keats, Savannah Letto Keats, Mark Letto, Brian Letto, Matthew Letto, Alana Clarke, Shannon Clarke, Keitha Derbyshire, and Vicki Derbyshire; her brother, Norman Barney (Beryl), sister, Cora Barney, and sister-in-law Lily Barney; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband George, son Roger, and daughter Elaine; grandsons Jamie Lavallee, Blake Letto, and Myles Letto; and brothers Cyril, Ross, Manual, and Edward.

Susie was known to everyone to be a hardworking woman who took pleasure in looking after her family. When they were all settled, she loved berry picking and going into her cabin with Georgie. She was devoted to her faith, the church, and her love of God.

She was a long-serving member of the Anglican Church Women and enjoyed the Bible study group when she was well enough to go. Susie was very proud of her Labrador heritage, which many people experienced through the display of her handicrafts in knitting, crochet, and quilting.

She loved all of her family so fiercely and dearly. Her “Mother’s Love” was truly a blessing.

There will be a family service on Monday, September 22nd, starting 8:00 p.m., at St. Andrews Anglican Church in L’anse au Clair. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 23rd, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Andrews Anglican Church, L’anse au Clair, with interment to follow at the L’anse au Clair cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or donations may be made to St. Andrews Church.
