Obituary of Sandra Maud Brockway (CARD OF THANKS)

Please share a memory of Sandra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The family of the late Sandra Brockway would like to express our deep gratitude to all who supported us during our most difficult time.

To the friends and family who showed up, brought food, cards, and shared beautiful memories, we appreciate you and your gestures. The kindness and thoughtfulness of those around us are what held us up and enabled us to celebrate our precious mother, grandmother, and wife in the most beautiful way possible. Sandra was our rock, our light, the love of our lives, and our profound loss was made just a little easier by the support that was given to us during some of our darkest days.

To the incredible staff of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Dialysis Unit, we could never thank you enough for your extraordinary care and kindness during Sandra’s dialysis journey. Your support, honesty, knowledge, and thoughtfulness carried our family through the hardest of times. Sandra always spoke about the incredible nurses and doctors, and there were never complaints of shortcomings or wait times. She felt genuinely cared for, and her life was undoubtedly extended by the skilled staff who supported her.

To the staff of the emergency room and the ICU at WMRH, we extend our gratitude for the honesty, empathy, and great care taken in Sandra’s final hours. Our family was able to be a part of every plan and decision, and we, including Sandra, were treated with respect throughout the entire process. On the worst day of our lives, we were provided the gifts of dignity and autonomy, and those are the gifts that matter when you have no choice but to say goodbye.

Sandra always said that it was “all a part of the journey.” This journey of saying goodbye has been impossibly difficult, but it has shown how much love surrounds us. Thank you for walking beside us, for your kindness, and for celebrating a life well lived. We are forever grateful.

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Sandra Brockway announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital ICU in Corner Brook on Sunday, September 21st, 2025 at the age of 67 years.

She leaves to mourn with loving and joyful memories: The love of her life, Roger Brockway, her children who she adored, Niki Rosenthal (Matt), Ang Brockway, Sara Young (Jeff), her grandchildren who were her everything, Hunter and Alexis Rosenthal, Ethan and Madison Bartlett, and Joshua and Rachel Young, Mother Shirley Peddle, Sister Judy Allen (Paul) and Sister Karen Byrne, as well as a circle of family and friends so great we could never name them all.

Sandra was predeceased by her Father Harvey Peddle, her Sister Marie Peddle, and Father and Mother-in-law, Reginald and Jean Brockway.

Her career was full of accomplishments, but her proudest accomplishment was her family. Sandra was the backbone of her family, hopelessly in love with her husband through thick or thin, deeply devoted to her children, and fiercely protective of her grandchildren. She was the architect of fun, humour and home; a light in every room she entered.

In her last years, far too early in her life, Sandra endured serious health struggles. Still, every challenge was met with a calm determination that taught those closest to her about grace, humility, compassion and resilience. Although she struggled, she never stopped demanding hours of card games, board games, pranks and laughter. Even when she suffered, she was the one who carried her family through, with love, joy and laughter guiding every moment.

Sandra’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Fudge and the team at Western Memorial Regional Hospital Dialysis Unit whose care and kindness will never be forgotten, and the staff of the Intensive Care Unit whose care and compassion made her passing bearable.
