With heavy hearts, the family of the late Richard “Rick” Duffy announce his passing on September 22, 2025 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his children: Devin and Jacqueline (Brandon); grandson: Liam; sisters: Pat (Wayne), Josephine (John), Marlene (Brent) and Kristina “Sis” (Billy); nephew Dale (Shareen); nieces Leverne (Kary) and Cathy (Dawson). Rick’s love extended to his great nieces and nephews; Karilee, Khloe, Seth, Chase, Camden and Sarah, as well as the family of his late partner, Marcheta especially Caroline (Jason), Chelsea, and Destiny. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Jesse, cat Woody and many other dearly loved family members and friends.
His family takes comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his parents, Kate and Manny Duffy; devoted partner Marcheta Hussey; loyal companion, Freddie and other family members that he held close to his heart.
Known for his sense of humor and love of joking around, Rick had the ability to bring laughter to everyone around him. His playful spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who shared time with him.
In following with Rick’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private visitation and service will be held for family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the support, care and kindness that Rick has received from family, friends, neighbours, and the community. They would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Slipp, Melina, Dr. Heneghan, Medical Day Care staff, HAS Volunteer Fire Department, Dr. Smallwood and the 4B staff of WMRH for their endless support and compassion.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in memory of Rick to the Humber Arm South Volunteer Fire Department.
