July 31, 1960 - September 21, 2025
The Late Vonnie Lavers passed peacefully away at Corner Brook Palliative Care on Sunday, September 21, 2025, succumbing to cancer, at the age of 65. She was blessed with family by her side.
Vonnie was born in Port Saunders and left home at the age of 19. She lived in Fort McMurray for 10 years working for Syncrude. She then moved to Kelowna, BC where she was manager of a food bank. She received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2002 for her commitment to providing healthy food to families in need. Vonnie loved to read and write. She loved to be learning something new all the time. In 2017, she moved back to her hometown of Port Saunders where she purchased houses and lived out her life. Vonnie was an outgoing person with a love for nature, many times she was seen taking her daily wallk. She will be forever remembered.
Vonnie leaves to mourn sisters: Ivy, Dinah (Maurice), Ann (Bobby), Julie (Ken), Marge (Gene), Theresa (Peter); brother Fred (Leah); nieces: Angelique, Christie, Erica, Justine, Danielle; nephews; Dylan, Cory, Reg, Christopher, Brandon.
She is predeceased by Dad (John) and Mom (Eliza).
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Palliative Care for the great care of our sister. They were awesome. We would also like to mention her special friend Evelyn Biggin.
Cremation has taken place as per her wishes.
A Celebration of Life / Visitation will be held on December 6, 2025 from 1pm - 4pm @ Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix, NL.
