Roland Lloyd Butt

Robinsons, NL

April 23rd, 1950, - Sept 25th, 2025

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of the late Roland Lloyd Butt of Robinsons announce his passing at Sir Thomas Roddrick Hospital, Stephenville on September 25th, 2025 at the age of 75.

Roland retired from the Canadian Armed Forces as a Sergeant with 20 plus years of service. He shared many stories of the places he seen when stationed overseas as a peacekeeper.

Roland loved fishing, family gatherings and playing crib and Queens (and he could broomstick with the best of them).

He leaves to mourn his brothers: Max (Linda) Kamloops, BC; Gerald (Joan) Lower Sackville, NS; Norman (Jessie) Heatherton, NL and sister Jean (Bill Matchem) Heatherton, NL. as well as a large circle of relatives, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He will be dearly missed but forever remembered.

Roland was predeceased by his loving wife Mary, and his parents George and Greta Butt.

Following Roland’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held at Heatherton United Church Cemetery on Thursday, October 2nd at 2:00p.m.

As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Roland to Heatherton United Church.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital for their compassion and care during the last days of Roland’s life.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 37 West Street, Stephenville Crossing. The family guestbook may be signed at www.fillatre.ca
