In Loving Memory of

Marguerite “Maggie” Ann Whyatt

June 8, 1953 -October 1, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marguerite “Maggie” Ann Whyatt, on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the age of 72, at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Long Term Care in Corner Brook, NL.

Maggie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Percy (Rosanne) and Melanie (Aaron); her cherished grandchildren Dylan, Alexa, Evan, and Kate; her sister Irene Simmons (Ron); her brother Lorne Childs; her sister-in-law Delorse Childs; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and many dear friends.

Maggie was predeceased by her beloved husband, David Bruce Whyatt (Dave)  April 30, 2010, and her brothers Clyde and Russell. She was also predeceased by her sisters Ena Butler (Allan), Dora “Sis” Endicott (Bobby), June Osmond (Harold), and Ruby Williams (Sam)

Maggie was a strong, determined, and hardworking woman who lived life with unwavering love and dedication. Her deep connection to nature was a defining trait. With an intuitive sense of the environment, she could predict the weather and knew the perfect time to tend to her beloved garden. She loved to share her vast knowledge with those around her, always eager to lend a hand and offer guidance.

One of Maggie’s greatest joys was baking—she was renowned for her homemade bread, a true comfort to anyone lucky enough to taste it. Her zest for life extended beyond the kitchen; she treasured time spent with her family and friends, whether it was playing cards, enjoying a game of Bingo, or listening to music. Maggie had a special fondness for the Rolling Stones and The Beatles, and she always found joy in a good tune.

Above all, Maggie’s family was her world. She poured love into her children and took immense pride in her four grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness. Her family’s well-being and happiness were always her top priority.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Nurses and Doctors at the Palliative Care Unit at Western Long Term Care. Your kindness, care, and compassion were deeply appreciated by our family during this difficult time.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at St. James Anglican Church in Lark Harbour on Monday, October 6th from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Effie Organ. Interment will take place at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. James Church.

Maggie’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will continue to inspire us forever.
