It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Matthew Preshyon announce his passing on Saturday, October 18th at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville at the age of 68.

Matthew is survived his daughter Amanda Preshyon (Dave), Saint John, New Brunswick; grandson, Tevin Winchester; great grandson, Copeland Winchester who was the love of his life; sister Sandra Preshyon (Lloyd Webb), Saint John, N.B, Celestine (John Barton), Moncton, N.B; brother, Anthony Preshyon(Evelina),Saint John, N.B and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.Born on January 14th, 1957, to the late Mary Preshyon and Benedict Young. Even though the family is deeply saddened by his death, they take comfort in knowing he is now at peace with God.Matthew was born and raised in Flat Bay, NL, he worked a lifetime with the Saint John Ship Building. Matthew was a good friend to many, always willing to lend a helping hand. He was known for having a generous heart and very much enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.Matthew was predeceased by his parents Mary Preshyon and Benedict Young, sister, Margaret, Edna, Valerie, Mileta and by his brother Wallace.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 37 West Street, Stephenville Crossing.Mass of Christan burial will take place on Wednesday, October 22nd at 10: 00a.m from the St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Flat Bay with interment to follow at the church cemetery.As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of NL & Labrador.
