Obituary of Reginald Ploughman
Ploughman
Reginald Wayne
Of
Stephenville, NL
1945 – 2025
.
Reginald Ploughman, aged 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and proud grandfather of three beautiful grandchildren who were the light of his life.
Reginald spent many years as a respected physical education teacher in Bishop Falls before he and his beloved wife, Rozanne, ventured north to continue their teaching careers in northern Canada—a chapter of their lives that brought them deep joy and lifelong friendships. Eventually, they returned to Stephenville to be closer to family, where Reginald’s gentle presence and warm spirit continued to touch the hearts of those around him.
A quiet but kind soul, Reginald found peace and purpose in nature. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved cutting wood, skiing on frozen lakes, spending time at his cabin at 20 Mile on Bay d’Espoir Highway, camping at Barachois Pond and sharing countless campfires with his wife, sons, daughter in law and grandchildren. When not outdoors, Reginald enjoyed simple pleasures—watching sports and his favorite TV shows, and playing checkers and hide-and-seek with his grandchildren, and cherishing the moments spent with his family. To him, family was everything; every shared smile and story was a treasure.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, and quiet strength—a man whose life reminds us that the greatest joys are found in family, laughter, and the beauty of the everyday.
He is survived by his wife Rozanne Ploughman (nee Stein); sister Wanda LeDrew of Bishop’s Falls; sons: Paul (Vicki Sheaves) Ploughman, Robert (Joseph Marcelo) Ploughman; grandchildren: Rose, Addison and Deacon.
Reginald was predeceased by his parents: Everett and Florence Ploughman.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday, October 28th at 11:00 a.m. from St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, 78 West Street, Stephenville with Father George and Father Joseph officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Parkinson Society Newfoundland & Labrador.
