Obituary of David Elliott
David “Dave” George Kingsley Elliott
On October 30th, 2025, while at home with loved ones by his side, Dave passed away peacefully at the beautiful age of 85 – just twelve days short of his 86th birthday.
Predeceased by his mother and father Harold Elliott and Louise Daley, as well as several cherished brothers and sisters.
Left to mourn his passing with loving memories are his devoted wife, Marie (Stuckless); his children, Denise Gillam (Bill), Carolyn Bolt (Ernie), Cathy Brown (Tim), David Elliott (Dee), his sister, Brenda Capolla; as well as many dear nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Pop will be deeply missed with endless memories by his grandchildren whom he was so proud to call his own; Sarah Howse (Darren), Aamie Evans (Michael), Lauren Bolt (Nick), Meghan Bolt (Brandon), and Julien Elliott. Each held a special place in his heart and were the pride of his life. His great-grandchildren, Molly and Evie, brought him endless joy. His dear friend and longtime neighbour in Corner Brook, Mac Andrews, also mourns the loss of a treasured companion.
David was born on November 11th, 1939 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Dave took immense pride in his bay-view home on Bannister’s Road, where he maintained a beautiful garden, patio and fish pond that he spent many summers enjoying and pouring his heart into.
He dedicated 35 years to his career at Service Canada before embracing an even longer and well-earned retirement.
A man of many passions, David found great joy in moose hunting, woodworking in his cherished workshop, painting, gardening, bowling, cooking, baking (especially known for his homemade bread) and cod jigging. He was also a proud and active member of the Humber United Men’s Club, where he built lasting friendships and gave back to his community.
Most importantly, Dave dedicated the last decade of his life caring for his wife and best friend of 61 years, Marie, whom he loved so deeply.
Anyone who knew Dave, knew his love for the Blue Jays. He spent his final hours watching his beloved Jays win game 5 of the World Series and we know this brought him so much joy.
The family would like to extend a sincere and special thank you to Dr. Goodfellow at St. Clare’s Emergency, who provided exceptional care during an ER visit prior to Dave’s passing. We are so grateful for your kindness, compassion, and could not have wished for a better physician to care for our loved one.
Cremation to take place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Sunday, November 2nd from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Barrett’s Memorial Chapel, on Monday November 3rd at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s memory and in Marie’s honor to the Alzheimer Society.
