It is with great sadness that the family of Joy Ryan announces her passing on November 3, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer, just 16 days shy of her 69th birthday. She passed peacefully at home with her loved ones by her side.

Joy leaves to mourn her loving husband, John, her daughters, Leigh Ann and Jennifer (Cory), and her granddaughter, Grace, whom she loved fiercely. She will also be missed by her sister Judy, her aunt and best friend Elaine (Ed), and the entire Ryan family, who loved her deeply.

Joy was predeceased by her parents Edna and Jack Fitch, her brother-in-law Al, with whom she shared a special bond as well as her cherished dog, Coco. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, feisty spirit, and her love for the simple joys of tending to her garden and baking for her family and friends.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Bernadette, their next-door neighbor, for her unwavering care and support throughout Joy’s illness and in her final moments. Special thanks are also extended to Dr. Rorke, the Palliative Care Team at Western Health and the staff at Cancer Care Western for their compassion and kindness.

Throughout her life, Joy showed tremendous strength and determination. She met every obstacle head on and fought hard until the very end.

Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Foundation.
