Geneva Theresa Hackett

November 20th 1957 - November 13th 2025

 

It is with profound sadness that the family of Geneva Theresa Hackett, age 67, announce her peaceful passing on Nov 13th 2025, at the palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Surrounded by her loving family and close friends following a heroic, unwavering battle with Breast Cancer.

 

Geneva lived a defined life with her determination to never give up. She faced cancer every day with a warriors spirit.

 

Geneva devoted her life to her 3 cherished son's, her family, friends and her precious Grandson. In her spare time she was involved with the Benoit's Cove Native Women's Association (BCNWA), Our Lady Star of the Sea and Run for the Cure.

Geneva is predeceased by her Father Benedict Hackett and her Mother Cedella Hackett (Crocker)

Left to mourn are her 3 sons Rodney Hackett (Alison), Grant Hackett and Charles Hackett, Grandson River Hackett.  Siblings Ramona Casselman, Niagara Falls ON, Helen Arseneau (Don), Bathurst NB, Jacqueline Hackett (Frank), Niagara Falls ON, Brenda Andrews, Beeton ON, Benny Hackett, Uxbridge ON, Maureen Hunt (Warrick), Corner Brook, Glenn Hackett (Brenda), Uxbridge ON, Stacy Hackett, Beeton ON, Louise House, Yarmouth NS, as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She also leaves to mourn her beloved pets; cat Puss Puss and 2 dogs Copper & Gambit

 

She will be deeply missed by her friend and walking buddy Philomena Hackett.

 

As per Geneva's wishes cremation has taken place.

 

Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady star of the Sea, Beniots Cove, NL on Monday Nov 17th 11:00am followed by the interment at the Catholic Church cemetery, reception will be at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Following the cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral home 218 Curling Street Sunday Nov 16th 2pm - 4pm and 7pm - 9pm  

 

In lieu of flowers Geneva had requested memorial donations to NL Breast Cancer society, Our Lady Star of the Sea or Benoit's Cove South Shore Volunteer Fire department.

 

Special thanks to Janet Byng and Jocelyn Greene for their dedication to Geneva's care during her lengthy battle.  Thank you to the Nursing staff at the Palliative Care unit, Western Health for home care services for the amazing care given to Geneva.
