Card of Thanks

The family of the late James (Jimmy) Douglas Park wish to express their sincere appreciation for the many acts of kindness to our family at our difficult time.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the visitation and funeral to pay respects and share such special memories of him and the remarkable man he was to everyone who knew him. Your presence, kind words, support and gestures of kindness were a source of comfort for us during our most difficult time.

Thank you all for the cards, phone calls, food, prayers and donations to the Templeton Academy breakfast club in Jimmy’s memory, your thoughtfulness did not go unnoticed and will never be forgotten. Thank you Rev Greg Loder for a beautiful service, the grandchildren for sharing their memories and stories and Fillatre’s for their guidance and professionalism.

He was the best husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle and friend to all, and we are touched to know he was loved and honoured by so many.  We will continue to make sure that we make him proud as we navigate through life without him here on earth.

The Park (Kerr and Garbett) Family

We were blessed with the best – the best husband, dad, pop, brother and friend – and he will be greatly missed.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James “Jimmy” Douglas Park announce his passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home on November 14, 2025 at the age of 78years.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 54 years Barbara; daughters: Deanne (Cecil) and Janice (Peter), grandchildren: Aimee (Josh), Emma (Riley) and Evan, and Deidre Cooper, who was like a daughter to him, and her son Zachary. siblings: Amy, Helen (deceased), Max (Barbara), Wayne, Sharon (Ted), Janet, Dean (deceased) (Janice), Danny (Sharon), Audrey (Glenn), Peggy, Paul; sister-in-law: Joan House and special friends: Effie and Goldie, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Jimmy was predeceased by his parents: Douglas and Gertrude; parents-in-law: John and Dorothy House; brothers-in-law: John House jr., Bernard Blanchard, Leander Hussey, Terence Parsons and Boyd Green.

He was an active volunteer in Gillams, being a founding member of the Gillams Volunteer Fire Department where he was a dedicated member and held the position of chief for most of his 30 years.  Upon his retirement from Corner Brook Pulp and Paper, he had time to do the things he enjoyed -  spending more time with the grandkids, salmon fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors.

Special thanks to the staff on 2 South at Corner Brook Long Term Care.  Your kindness will not be forgotten.

In keeping with Jimmy’s  wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Fillatre Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, on Sunday, November 16, 2025 from the hours of 2-4pm. A funeral service will take place at Fillatre Funeral Home Chapel, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 2 pm with Rev. Greg Loder officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Templeton Academy Breakfast Program or charity of one’s choice.

Jimmy lit up every room he walked into, always up for a chat with whoever came along – he never left anyone in a bad mood…keep smiling Pop.  Love you forever.
