Obituary of William Read Squires

William Read Squires
January 24, 1950 – November 26, 2025

It is with sadness that the family of William Read Squires announce his passing at the age of 75 years.

Leaving to mourn his wife of 52 years, Linda (nee Wilton); sisters Lois Campbell and Valerie (Tony) Simmons; brother-in-law Louis Young, special friends/nephew and niece Kurt Squires and Bonnie Young; as well as many other nieces, nephews and relatives.

William was predeceased by his parents William and Gertrude (nee Read); brother Kenneth (Alma) Squires, Harvey (Eva) Squires, Milton Squires, and Eric Squires; sister Gwennie Young; brother-in-law Scott Campbell; and parents-in-law Harold and Nellie Wilton.

Linda would like to say thank you to many health care workers along William’s journey. Just to name a few: the nurses and doctors at the Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook, Community Nurses of Deer Lake, Dr. Powell and Dr. Slade of Deer Lake, and Dr. Hickey and Dr. Harnett of the Health Science Centre in St. John’s.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Deer Lake on Friday, November 28, 2025, from the hours of 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Deer Lake at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Jeffrey Petten officiating. Interment will follow at the Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery.
