It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edward Eugene Madore announce his passing on Wednesday, December 3rd at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville at the age 59 years after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

He will be greatly missed by his dad, Calvin Madore; 10 siblings: Ernest (Agnes) Madore, Wade(Nancy) Madore, Dale Madore, Donald ( Jeannie) Madore, Gladys (Matthew) Gillam, Paul ( Jocelyn)Madore, David( Deanne) Madore, Delores ( Gary) Madore , Angela Madore and Ray (Kelly) Madore;sister-in- law, Theresa (Charles) Gillam; brothers -in-law: Christopher( Wilma) Harvey andRichard(Penny) Harvey. Eugene had 19 nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his 2 little nieces Shyla and Rayna Madore, who he thought the world of and spoiled endlessly. His special friends Stu and Nancy Osmond (Port Aux Basques) and Hector and Gert Roberts (Lark Harbour) will miss him dearly.

Gene as everyone knew him, was an outdoor enthusiast. He made his living from the sea, as a lobster fisherman and from the woods as a logger. He loved camping and spending his summers at Crabbe’s River Park for the past 12 years. He enjoyed spending time on his skidoo, side by side and quad. In the evenings, Gene could be found chatting to friends in his dad’s garage or his friend Hector’s shed. He loved family gatherings, no matter where it was either at his home or at a sibling’shome.

Eugene was predeceased by wife, Carolyn Harvey just 9 months ago; Mother Patricia Eva Madore and brother-in- law, Harold Ball. Respecting Gene’s wishes cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8th from 7-9pm at St. Mary Magdalene Anglicanchurch, Jeffrey's. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 9th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Nancy Hulan officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery, Jeffrey's. As expressions of sympathy,donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church Memorial fund.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 37 West Street, StephenvilleCrossing.
