Obituary of William Victor Bonnell
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Bonnell of Pasadena on Monday, December 8, at the age of 77 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie (née Turner); children: Lori-Lynn, Pamela, and Michael (Linda); grandchildren: Keira, Ava, and Owen; brother, Frank (Shirley) Bonnell; sister-in-law, Sylvia Bonnell; as well as numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by brother, Jim Bonnell, and parents, Charles and Phoebe (née Hayden) Bonnell.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Friday, December 12, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 13, at the Humber Valley United Church in Pasadena. A celebration of life and internment will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made in Bill’s name to the Humber Valley United Church or the Baie Verte Peninsula Cat Rescue (bvpcatrescue@gmail.com). The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Western Memorial Hospital and most recently the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home for their love and compassion.
Bill spent his whole life in Pasadena. He joined the Federal Forestry at the age of 19 until his retirement. He was a devoted member of the United Church Men’s Service Club and proudly spent 32 years with the Pasadena Volunteer Fire Department, five of them as Fire Chief. Besides his family, his main love was farming. Together with his constant companion, Bonnie, they spent 40 years working at their beloved barn; tilling fields, planting vegetables, raising livestock, hosting community events, and entertaining family and friends. He was the epitome of a family man and was so very proud of his children, adored his grandchildren, and worshipped his wife. He will be missed more than words could ever express, but we are so grateful for the love he instilled in us all and the legacy of happy memories he leaves behind.
