Obituary of Alvina Martha Blake

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alvina (Alvi) Martha Blake announce her passing on December 18^th, 2025, at Long Term Care, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, at the age of 76 years.

Alvina was surrounded by so much love daily. She had a smile for everyone she met. Over the years she developed family bonds with many people: Jodi Michelin, Harriet and Hiriam White, (Mom) Grace Laing, brother-in-law Bob Shiwak, Jeannie Welsh, and Aida Sheppard.

Alvina loved her family, the Special Olympics and her friends at Long Term Care. She loved music, coloring, her beads and being around the ones she loved.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her brothers: Garfield Tooktoshina and his partner Rowena; brothers in law: Bob Shiwak and Barry Flynn; sisters: Lilly (Cook) Chambers, Greta Michelin, and Isabel Daley; sister-in-law: Agnes Blake; as well as a large circle of extended relatives and friends.

Alvina was predeceased by her parents: Flora and Herbert Blake; brothers: Howard, Jim, Allen (Butty): sisters: Delphine Shiwak, Carol Flynn; sister-in-law: Beatrice Blake; brothers in law: Johny Michelin and Alf Chambers.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 21^st, 2025, from 10:00 am – 12:00 at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 21^st, 2025, from the United Church, starting at 2:00 pm with Rev Alice Moores officiating. Interment to follow at the United Church Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Special Olympics, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL.

The family would like to offer sincere thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at Long Term Care for assuring Alvina was always well taken care of.
