Obituary of Barbara Brown

Barbara Marie Brown (nee: MacPherson)

1937-2025

With immense sorrow, Barbara’s family regret to announce her passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on the evening of December 21, 2025 after a short illness, while surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Corner Brook, raised in the Highlands, Barbara went on to experience many life events and adventures that taught her the value of having a loving and giving heart. Her patience and perseverance served to cultivate a profound level of wisdom, a beacon of trust and a pillar of stability for those around her.

The path she walked during her 88 years was one she was happy to share and is reflected by the many meaningful connections and friendships over her lifetime. As a founder and professor at the college of the North Atlantic, she dedicated her career to education and helping her students be the best in their chosen careers.

She loved to travel and did so extensively, especially after she retired, enabling her to not just be with the family she loved here at home but to visit those who lived away as well.

Barbara is survived by her sons Timothy and Nathan, daughter Julia Ann (Colin Roberts), brother Daniel (Madge), sisters Ann and Mary. Grandchildren, Daniel  (Jessica), Josh (Jackie), Alexis, Terri Noseworthy, Tara Noseworthy (Dwayne Leblanc), Tasha Corkum. Great grandchildren Rory, Lincoln, Jaden, Noah, Brook, Zack, Bella.

She was predeceased by daughter Juanita. Parents, John Howard, MacPherson and Ann Elizabeth Gillis. Brothers James, Donald, Gerald, Howard. Sisters, Phyllis (Lamphere), Geraldine. Brother-in-law, Richard Lamphere. Sister-in-law Jean MacPherson.

The family would like to thank the kind and loving staff of Crosswinds Resort. As well as the doctors, nurses and staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital.
