Wesley Rufus Field
November 20, 1934 – December 22, 2025

It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Wesley Rufus Field announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on December 22, 2025.

Wesley is predeceased by his beloved wife Edith (nee Elliott) and his parents James and Lillian (Cull) Field, his siblings Arthur, Alexander, Rhoda, Elsie, Minnie, Virtue, George, Cassandra, Ameila, Walter, Freeman, Dora, Frances, and Ann.

Left to mourn are his daughters Sharron (Bern) Walsh of Pasadena, Una (Floyd) Torraville of Sylvan Lake, and Janice Field (Jim Hickey) of Logy Bay. Also leaving to mourn are his grandchildren Ryan (Ellen) Walsh, Kia (Kyle) Compagnon, Kory Torraville, and Jasmine Hickey; great-grandchildren Brandon Labelle and Kate Compagnon; as well as a large circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

We would like to extend a special thank you to dad’s home support worker Beverly Young for the past thirteen years of caring for Dad.

Born and raised in Cook’s Harbour, Wesley worked in the family business and the fishery until 1974 when the family moved to Deer Lake. He worked with Coates Construction and then with the Deer Lake Power Company until his retirement in 1999. He thoroughly enjoyed his years at Deer Lake Power and spoke highly of his coworkers and the many friends that he made there. His love of the ocean, hunting, fishing, listening to newfoundland traditional music, and hearing him playing the accordion will live on in our memories forever. Rest in peace Dad.

No flowers by request. Donations may be made to St. Michael and All Angels Church Anglican Church, Deer Lake.

Visitation will be held for family and friends on Sunday, December 28, 2025 from the hours of 7 – 9 pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake.
