Obituary of Marion Hilda Penney
Marion Hilda Penney (nee Stead)
November 28, 1923 – December 26, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Marion Penney announce her passing on December 26, 2025, at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s. Marion reached the incredible age of 102 years, enjoying good health and a very sharp mind right to the end. Marion was born and raised in Musgravetown but upon marrying Bond, moved with him to Corner Brook where they built a life, a family, and a home together. When old age took a firm hold, they moved to Admirals Coast Retirement Centre, Kelligrews in February 2013 to be closer to their children. Sadly, Bond passed away in May 2013, but Marion continued to live at Admirals Coast, where she was very much loved.
Marion outlived many of her friends and all but one sibling. She leaves to mourn; sister Jean Kasprysk and sister-in-law Minnie Stead; children Kaye (David) Power (Clarenville) and Randy (Paula) Penney (Gould’s Big Pond); grandchildren Warren (Kari) Ingram, Melissa (Robert) Percy, Erin Power, Matthew Power, Julia Penney and Danielle (Mark) Lundrigan – Penney. Great grandchildren Barrett (Chelsey) Ingram, Kaylee (Kirk) McWhorter, Emma Percy, Charlotte Power, and Theo Lundrigan – Penney; great – great grandchildren Christian and Ariana Ingram and Willow McWhorter.
Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue, Corner Brook. From 2:00PM – 4:00PM on January 1, 2026. The funeral service will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday January 2, 2026, beginning at 1:30PM with interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
We wish to thank the staff at Fillatre’s Funeral Home for their kindness and willingness to accommodate our requests. We also extend our thanks to the staff at Admirals Coast Retirement Centre for the love and great care they provided to Marion.
A expression of sympathy in honor of Marion's memory may be made by donations to any charity of one's choice.
