Roger Stanley Malcolm Jackson
August 19, 1960 – December 18, 2025
Roger Stanley Malcolm Jackson (age 65), P.Geo., M.Sc., M.Eng., passed away suddenly on December 18 while vacationing in Punta Cana with his son, Andrew.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, James (2008) and Nancy (2022). He is lovingly remembered by his son Andrew; brother Colin (John Kennedy); sister Violet Stagg (Monty Stagg); nephews Shane and Justin Stagg; Andrew’s Mom Valerie, Stepdad Dave, and Brother George. Special niece Robyn, special nephew Drew, childhood friend Howard Bland (Geraldine), family and friends .
A lifelong learner, he grew up in Grand Falls Windsor and attended Grand Falls Academy K-11 Then graduated from Memorial University with the BSc in Geology and later completed his Master’s degree in Engineering from Laurentian University.
He worked for Inco/Vale for 32 years before retiring in 2022, and later with WSP until his final retirement in April 2024.
Together Roger & Andrew traveled the world and obtained 33 stamps in their passports.
Roger was an advocate for the Northern Water Sports Centre and could be seen kayaking & windsurfing on the water all summer long. He was always generous with his time, offering water sports instructions and available to assist those in need.
We will all miss his great smile, his intellectual talks and his zest for life.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Sudbury at the Northern Water Sports Centre on January 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. A second celebration will take place in Cavendish, Newfoundland, in August 2026 to follow through with his wishes and spread his ashes.
