John Gordon Ball
May 1, 1941 – January 17, 2026
Ramea, NL
It is with great sadness that the family of John Gordon Ball announce his passing on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the Calder Health Care Centre, Burgeo at the age of 84 years.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his brother Edwin; sisters Lola Shackelton (Ralph), Sarah Sibley (Edward), Lucy Keeping and Ida Courtney (Kenneth); step-daughter Lynn Power and step-granddaughter Gemma Ubell, as well as many nieces and nephews, and a large circle of friends.
Gordon was predeceased by the love of his life, his wife Doreen; his mom and dad, Fanny and Thomas Ball; his sister Anne Keeping and brothers-in-law John Keeping and Fred Keeping.
Gordon was an avid fisherman and was in his boat fishing as soon as the food fishery opened each year. He loved a good game of cards whether it was 120’s, crib or at the Lion’s Club every Saturday for a game of Whist. He dearly loved being a Lion’s Member and spent many hours at the club involved in whatever was on the go there. He also spent a lot of time at the stage with his good friend Kerry Hatcher or sitting on the bench on the slip sharing a few yarns with whoever happened to be there.
Gordon lived in Thunder Bay for many years but after his wife passed away, he came back to Ramea, the place that was always “Home”.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place with funeral service later.
