Madeline Caines
August 17, 1927 - January 19, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announced the peaceful passing of Madeline Caines, age 98, on January 19, 2026. She lived a long and full life and will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God and her enduring love for her family.
Madeline was a compassionate, gentle and kind woman who made the world brighter for everyone who knew her. Her warmth, grace, and quiet strength touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered forever.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Martin Caines; her son, Michael; her infant son, Clifford; her daughter-in-law, Lucy; her son-in-law, Nelson Plowman; and her grandson-in-law, Craig Pye. Also predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Michael Kennedy; her brothers, Michael, Tom, and Douglas (Rita); her sisters Alice ((Uriah) Myers, Annie (John) Pittman, and Theresa (Clyde) Caines; her parents in law-in law, Alice and Dominic Caines; her sisters-in-law Leona (Luke) Mahar, Mercedes (Patrick) Myers, and Marie (Joseph) Pittman; and her brothers-in-law Stanley (Mable) Caines, Raymond Caines, Benedict Mahar, and Isaac Tatchell.
Left to mourn her passing are her son Martin; daughters Genevieve Plowman and Julia (Max) Barbour; her grandchildren Michelle, Collett (Jamie), Marty (Marlana), Steven (Shelley), Aaron (Lori), Garcien (Wavey), Troy (Tina), Nadine (Jeff), and Deanne (Steve). She will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren Stacy, Samantha, Mikayla, Mackenzie, Miranda, Melissa, Logan, Griffin, Mallory, Harrison, Reagan, Jack, Will, Ethan, Isla, Lucy, Lilly, Gideon and Jack. Also left to mourn her passing are her brother Lambert (Jocelyn) Kennedy, sisters-in-law Julia Mahar, Nora Tatchell, and Jean Caines, brother-in-law Aloysius (Josephine) Caines, and many extended family members.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Rufus Guinchard Health Care Centre and the staff of Lanes Northern Retirement Home in Port Saunders for the kindness, compassion, and exceptional care shown to Madeline.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22 at Fillatre's Funeral Home, Port au Choix from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and from 7:00 pm - 9pm, with Family Service starting at 7pm.
The funeral service will take place on Friday, January 23 at 11:00am at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, Port au Choix, with Father Jaison officiating. Interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Port au Choix or a charity of one's choice.
