Barbara Ann Spontaneo

February 10, 1952 – January 26, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Barbara Ann Spontaneo announce her sudden passing on January 26, 2026 at the age of 73. She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 53 years Wally, her beloved daughters Shelley (Wayne Garcin) and Karen, and her three precious grandchildren, Ryan, Rachael and Allie, who she affectingly called her Angel Face, her Sunshine and her Star. Also leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is her sister Karen, brothers Tony and Brian, brothers-in-law Frank (Tina), Sean (Patricia), Johnny (Kitty), and Jacques Marengere, sisters-in-law Lorena (Gerald), and Debbie (Dwayne), as well as a large circle of family and friends. She is predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Ryan, her parents-in-law Michael and Sarah Spontaneo, brother Bob, brother-in-law Michael, and sisters-in-law Carol, Sandra and Helen.

Barb was a woman whose life was defined by quiet love, steady kindness, and a deep devotion to the people around her. She found joy in simple, beautiful routines—tending to her garden, savoring a good cup of coffee, and sharing daily conversations with her girls, which were among the highlights of her days. One of Barb’s best qualities was her humility. She never sought recognition, yet her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her quiet selflessness was not something she spoke about—it was something she lived, showing up every day with care, patience and an open heart. She had a way of making others feel seen and valued, whether through a thoughtful gesture, a listening ear, or her steady presence. Her love was constant, her generosity effortless, and her spirit deeply rooted in compassion.

Alongside her gentle nature was a wonderfully fun spirit. Barb loved music and dancing, and she embraced moments of laughter and celebration. Some of her happiest memories were made during many years of camping with dear friends—times filled with stories, music, friendship, and the kind of joy that comes from being surrounded by people you love.

Everyone who knew Barb knew how much she dearly loved her girls. She had a deep and unconditional love for her daughters and grandchildren, whom she cherished with all of her heart. They were her pride and her joy, and her love for them was evident in every smile, every story, and every moment she shared with them.

At the heart of Barb’s life was her husband, Wally—her best friend and the love of her life. The bond they shared was a love that is rare, built on devotion, respect, and deep companionship. It was a love that carried them through life and will continue to live on in the hearts of all who witnessed it.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the members of Pasadena Fire Rescue who cared for Barb in her final moments and supported our family at our darkest time. We are forever grateful.
