Obituary of Joyce Mary Major

Joyce Major 

May 2, 1954 – January 30, 2026

Corner Brook, NL

It is with great regret and sadness that the family of the late Joyce Major announce her passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care, at the age of 71 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving family: Son: Bradley Major: Daughters: Janis Major, and Maria Major: Granddaughter Harmony. Also, Brothers Raymond Oxford, Mike Oxford: Brothers-in-Law: Joe Kotai, Bruce Temple, Randall Arenburg and many nieces, nephews and relatives. 

She was predeceased by her husband of 27 years Alvin Major (1999); Her parents: Grace (1986) and Raymond (1995) Oxford, Sisters: Sadie Kotai (2025), Rose Temple (2024), and Dorothy Arenburg (2024), Brother: John Oxford (2024); Parents-in-law: Eli (1960) and Emma (1985) Major.  

To the staff of 3 South, at Corner Brook Long Term Care, past and present, we want to thank you for your years of dedication, care and compassion that you have shown Joyce and her family.

Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4  St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday, February 4 from the hours of 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 4 at 2:00 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel, St. Mark’s Avenue with Father Lee Lainey officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. 

In Lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Huntington Society of Canada in Joyce's name.
