Obituary of Laura Pearl (Simmons) Knight (CARD OF THANKS)
Please share a memory of Laura to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We are humbled and thankful for the overwhelming outpouring and support from so many wonderful and caring people, who took time to message, call, send cards, make donations and bring food or stop to exchange words of comfort on passing as we continue day to day. Mom would be touched by you all, she had a genuine love of life and people. Please know that words would never be enough to express our appreciation of you all.
Sincerely Linda, Eric, Theresa, Nita and our uncle and mom’s baby brother, Carl Simmons
Because I could not stop for death, it kindly stopped for me.
In the words of Emily Dickinson
Laura Pearl Simmons Knight
August 30, 1925 – February 13, 2026
The woman known as Mom, Pearl, Pearly and Nana Pearl all titles that she carried with love and pride.
It is with profound sadness and loss that we accept the passing of our mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She slipped peacefully away at the well lived age of 100 years and 6 months. She will be missed and mourned by her four remaining children: Linda (Glen Sidney), Eric Jr., Theresa (Anthony Careen), Nita (Colin Rowe) and daughter-in-law Marcelle Knight. Her beloved grandchildren: Todd Roche, Roy Knight Jr., Lisa Chapman (Robert), Neil Knight and Erika Sidney (Tim). Great-grandchildren: Anthony (Cassel) Thomas, Alex and Kevin, Ethan and Sophie Chapman. Great-great-grandchildren: Aurelia, Charlie, Ellri, Errol, also Alayah and Haven Grace. Her baby brother Carl (Donna) Simmons, sister-in-law Eva (Eric) Deceased, nephew Chester Batstone, Daisy Alcock, and many beloves nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pearl was the third child of Lillian (Green) and Archibald Simmons.
She was spirited and independent, and had a very strong work ethic. A sense of humor that will leave behind many smiles in her wake.
Waiting for her arrival is her beloved husband Eric, her first born, son Roy and her precious siblings Marion Strong (Ross), Julia Upwards (Jack), Hubert (Bonnie), Woodrow (Marion), Eric, Edward (Jean), Valma (Jim), also father of Todd and Lisa (Larry Roche) and mother of Neil Knight (Genny Philpott).
Mom’s last few years has been challenging for her, but in her true colorful personality was able to bring humor to most situations.
For those who have cared for mom, during her difficult journey, thank you seems inadequate. Your love and kindness will stay with us forever. As her legacy, in the words of her favorite song, Music and Friends, is the answer to much in life.
Donations can be made to Sunshine Kitty or an animal rescue of your choice.
Celebration of life at a date to be determined.
