Eugene Randolph Parsons

November 27, 1960 – February 22, 2026

Sop’s Arm, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eugene R. Parsons announce his passing on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 65 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 47 years Karen (Pittman); children: Mindy (Kirby) Gillingham and Tara (Chris) Read; grandchildren: Amber (Jacob) Young, Isaiah Gillingham, Noah and Nathaniel Read; sisters and brother: Hughena (Guy) Pittman, Oscar (Rose) Parsons, Ivernia Brake and Donna Parsons; brothers and sisters-in-law: Lloyd (Bella) Pittman, Clifford (Joan) Pittman, Ellis (Flora) Pittman, Piney (Louis) MacKinnon, Todd Pittman, Naomi Pittman, Edna Pittman and Edith Pittman; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Henley and Beulah Parsons, sister Claudine (Harris) Hynes, parents-in-law William and Leona Pittman, brothers and sister-in-law Henry Brake, Wesley Pittman, Obediah Pittman, Roy Pittman and Gloria (Bill) Dicks.

Eugene worked with Corner Brook Pulp and Paper as a silviculture worker for a large part of his life, he then went on to drive the harvester which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was vice president of the Woodlands Union for years. He was a volunteer fire fighter and a member of the local service committee. In his spare time he loved the great outdoors, hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a jack of all trades, he was very particular in his work and was known to be able to build or fix anything. He loved to pass his knowledge onto others and was always there to lend a hand. He was a proud member of the Canadian Rangers and devoted a large portion of his time to the Sop’s Arm Pentecostal Assembly, he served as a board member, secretary and any role that needed to be done. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his wife Karen who he loved to do everything with and who he loved to spend quiet time with watching YouTube shows and movies. They were inseparable you would very rarely see one without the other.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 25 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Sop’s Arm Pentecostal Church from where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 26 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Grimes officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Sop’s Arm Pentecostal Assembly or the Lung Association.

The funeral service will be livestreamed through the following link. Should there be any issues a recorded copy will be uploaded after the funeral service.
