Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, E. Frances Tavener on February 23, 2026 at the age of 104 years. She leaves to mourn with beautiful memories her children: Glenice Robertson (Tom), Corner Brook; Brenda Wheeler, Paradise; Terry Tavener (Denise), St. John's; her grandchildren: Stephanie Avery (Dwayne, deceased); Brad Robertson; Jason Penney; Adam Wheeler (Andrea); Matthew Wheeler (Alicia). Her great grandchildren: Ryan Avery; Ethan Penney; Zoie Penney; Cameron Wheeler and Casey Ryan; her sister-in-law Alice Tavener, special friend, Marilyn Penney and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. We would like to thank Mom’s niece, Gloria Snow, for her many visits and support, and her niece, Lynn Boland and husband, Jimmie Boland, for their visits and gifts of food. Also, thank you to special friends who kept in touch with Mom by FaceTime, phone or mail: Mary Read; Juanita Payne; Ruby Randell, Madonna Elford, Gertie Bailey and her friends from ACW and her former TOPS chapter.

She was predeceased by her husband, H. Ralph Tavener, sisters, Mary Gardner, Nellie Snow, brothers, Harold Kearley, Ralph Kearley and her parents, Frances and Walter Kearley.

Our Mom joined St. Michael and All Angels ACW in 1959 and was a member for over 60 years. During the course of that time, she held the positions of President, Treasurer and Convenor of Social Concern. As Convenor of Social Concern, she visited many sick and shut in members of St. Michael and All Angels congregation. Mom also did volunteer work at Western Memorial Hospital on the Extended Care Unit of Western Memorial Hospital where she met her friend, Madonna Elford. She also sang in the church choir for many decades beginning in the early sixties. Her many comedic appearances in St. Michael and All Angels church concerts, were loved and appreciated by many. In later years, their concerts became part of the Corner Brook Winter Carnival activities.

Our family would like to thank Dr. David Coleman for his excellent care of our Mom throughout the many years that she was under his care. We would also like to thank Dr. Meghan Greene for her compassionate care of our Mom in recent years.
