Douglas Genge

April 5, 1948 – February 25, 2026

Anchor Point, NL

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Doug was born April 5, 1948 to Emanuel and Dora Genge. He grew up in Anchor Point along side his seven brothers Abe, Stew, Mon, Mann, Marvin, Brone and Troy, two sisters Beulah and Millicent. He obtained a Master of Education and taught for 30+ years which he enjoyed to the fullest. He married the love of his life Bertha on December 27, 1972. They built a loving life and raised their family of two children Dane and Benay in Anchor Point close by their many extended family members. Doug lived a life marked by compassion, strength and deep devotion to his family, especially his five grandchildren Ryan, Lexie, Eric, Kate and Luke; they were his pride and joy.

Doug was an avid volunteer in the community, especially with the Lions Club. He took much pride in the “We Serve” motto and was always lending a helping hand. He enjoyed the outdoors, from daily walks, packing up wood for his family, gardening, mowing grass, bird watching and taking pictures of nature. He was a great Historian. He loved to tell stories and talk about the great accomplishments and daily activities of his family especially his grandchildren.

Leaving to  mourn with broken hearts but loving memories,  his wife Bertha, son Dane (Jadean), Daughter Benay (Troy), grandchildren Ryan, Lexie, Eric, Kate and Luke; siblings and spouse Abe (Jane), Marvin (Louise), Brone (Bill), Troy (Connie); sisters Beulah and Millicent; two special nephews Andy and Andrew; sisters-in-law Fiona, Linda, Hilda (Eddie), as well as a  large and loving family of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.

He is predeceased by his parents Emanuel Sr. and Dora Genge; in-laws Ronald and Dulcie Genge, Brothers Steward (Dorcas) Genge, Montrose (Una) Genge, Emanuel Jr., Brothers-in-law Jacob Caines, Clifton Moores and Donald Way.

Doug’s kindness and strength touched everyone who knew him. We are grateful for every moment shared and will carry your memory with us always. We will dearly miss you!
