Obituary of Ernest James McIntyre

Ernest James McIntyre  

December 16, 1962 - March 5, 2026 

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest James McIntyre “Tubby” on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the age of 63 years. In his final moments, he was surrounded by family at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook.  

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his devoted wife, Maggie, of 36 years; his children: Joshua (Bailey) and Jacob (Andrea); his grandchildren Alexander and Emily; his step grandchildren Amy and Chloe; his brothers and sisters: Peter (Catherine), Debbie (Dave) O’Brian, Danny (Doreen), Brian (Elsie), Linda “lou-lou” (Gerry) Nuttall; his mother-in-law, Linda, and father-in-law, Mark Joyce Sr. (Mazie); his brother and sister-in-law Mark Joyce Jr. and Michelle Joyce; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and his beloved companion, Wally.  

He was predeceased by his parents, Allie and Shirley, and his brother, Allie (Anne). 

Ernie was a very smart and knowledgeable man who enjoyed music, singing, fishing, cooking, and partying with his friends and family. One of his favourite pastimes was relaxing at the cabin, listening to the ocean. His smile and laughter filled the room, and he was always joking around, even during the toughest of times. 

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for their care and compassion. A special thank you to Dr. Peter Callahan and Dr. Lynelle Mottay. 

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s funeral home in Curling, on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.  

His laughter, kindness, and love will remain in our hearts forever.
