Barbara Dianne Brown

January 7, 1950 – March 8, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Barbara Dianne Brown announce her passing on March 8, 2026, at Corner Brook Long Term Care, 2 North, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Janes. As well as her parents-in-law Wilfred and Carrie Brown, brothers-in-law Max Brown, Clayton Brown, and Jeff Rosko, and sisters-in-law Vera Brown, Carolyn Brown, and Daisy Buffett.

Left to mourn with loving memories are her beloved husband of 56 years, Derek Brown, and her cherished children Tracy (Scott), Andrew (Kathy), and Lisa (Brian). She will be deeply missed by her beloved grandchildren Emma, Adam, Keller, Stanley, and Shea, sister-in-law Dianne Brown, brother-in-law Carl Buffett, along with many extended family members and a large circle of dear friends who will feel her loss deeply.

Barbara dedicated her career to teaching elementary school, where she was known as a caring and committed educator whose students held her in great affection. Beyond her work, she found great joy in travelling and entertaining friends, and she treasured the many friendships she formed throughout her life.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Wadhwa and the staff of 2 North at Corner Brook Long Term Care for their compassionate and professional care.

In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue. The funeral service will be held at St. John’s the Evangelist Church on Friday at 2:00 p.m., The Very Rev. Catherine Short officiating. Interment to take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Barbara will be remembered for her kindness, dedication to her family and students, and the many friendships she cherished throughout her life.
