Obituary of Barbara Pauline Maringo (CARD OF THANKS)
Card of Thanks
We, the family of the late Barbara Maringo wish to extend our deepest gratitude to all of you who have reached out to us during this difficult time. Whether it was a message of condolence, a phone call, a card, a visit, a hug, food, donations, or any other gesture of sympathy, WE THANK YOU.
To the staff of Corner Brook Long Term Care, WE THANK YOU. By “staff”, we are referring to all staff associated with 4 South. This was Barbara’s home for nearly two years. During that time, we got to know a lot of you and you became what felt like extended family. Plenty of memories were made, you took care of Barbara’s every need on the daily and we are so appreciative for all that you have done. Also, we will forever be grateful for the many wonderful residents, along with their wonderful families, who we met alo9ng the way – We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
To the many doctors and nurses at both Emergency Department and the Intensive Care Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, WE THANK YOU. From the moment that Barbara was admitted, she received the best of care and we could not be more grateful for all that you did for her.
To the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, WE THANK YOU. You went above and beyond, in the most compassionate way possible, to ensure Barbara was kept comfortable during her final days. Because of you, we had everything we needed to navigate this difficult journey that we were on. You were our “Angels on Earth”.
To Father Edward Terry, WE THANK YOU. Your daily visits and prayers provided our family with much comfort.
To Fillatre’s Funeral Home, WE THANK YOU. Mindy, you went above and beyond in guiding us through the process of making the final arrangements for our loved one, along with all your continuous help regarding other matters. We are in “awe” of you.
To Barbara’s Homecare Worker, JoAnne Morgan, WE THANK YOU. “Miss Barbara” thought the world of you. You gave her such wonderful care at home and we are all so appreciative for having the opportunity to get to know you, NEVER STOP BEING YOU.
Finally, to those who stood by Barbara with so much love and devotion during her lengthy illness (you know who you are), WE THANK YOU. You never wavered in your commitment to her. You truly were able to show her that Family is Everything.
Even though we know in our hearts that Barbara is now at peace, it certainly doesn’t lessen the enormous loss that we feel. She will remain Forever in our Hearts.
Sincerely,
Allan Rowe and Family

Barbara Pauline (Williams) Maringo
Irishtown - Summerside, NL
1947 – 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Barbara Maringo announce her passing on March 09, 2026 at the Western Long Term Care Palliative Care Unit at the age of 78 years, after a very lengthy illness. She is finally at peace.
During the years preceding her illness, Barbara lived a very full life. She lived and worked in Montreal for 25 years. She later returned to Newfoundland where she operated her own business in Deer Lake. Barbara loved the great outdoors and especially loved to have a good time - the family gatherings that involved good music and dancing. These gatherings always allowed everyone involved to enjoy benefits of her wonderful cooking skills (second to none). She was never satisfied until you agreed to take home a plate of grub for later. A wise person once said that the one thing people remember most after someone passes away is how well he/she treated others. BARBARA WILL LONG BE REMEMBERED! She treated others the way that she wanted to be treated. Always the caregiver - making sure that those whom she loved were taken care of. There was no compromise here. She loved deeply. To have had her as part of our lives was truly a blessing.
She leaves to mourn her loving and devoted life partner of 32 years, Allan Rowe; Allan's Family; Her precious fur baby, Snowball; Her sisters - Audrey Duffenais and Maureen Smith; Her brother - Wayne Williams; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Margaret Williams; Brothers - Thomas, Ronald, Edward, David and Roy; Her sisters - Shirley Chaulk and Margaret Ann Tucker.
As per her request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to The Western Long Term Care Palliative Care Unit or The Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility, University Drive.
You can shed tears because they are gone, or you can smile because they lived. You can close your eyes and pray they will come back, or you can open your eyes and see all that they left for you. Your heart can be empty because you can't see them, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember only that they are gone or you can cherish their memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind and feel empty, or you can do what they would want. Smile, open your heart, love... and go on.
In Loving Memory
