Thelma Dolores Childs
Nov. 18, 1944 – March 16, 2026
The family of the late Thelma Dolores Childs announce her passing on Monday, March 16th in her 82nd year at Corner Brook Long Term Care surrounded by her family. She leaves to mourn with cherished memories sons Averell, Brad, Greg (Kim) and daughter Melina Penney (Steve). Grandchildren Nick, Taylor, Meghan, Sierra, and Brooklyn. Sister Marlaine Vatcher. Sister-in-law Irene Simmons (Ron) and numerous family and friends. Predeceased by husband Clyde, parents Mary and Wilfred Childs, mother and father in-law Melina and Cecil Childs, grandparents Beatrice and Soloman Childs, special uncle Sol Brinston. Brothers and Sisters-in-law Gerald Vatcher, Ena and Allan Butler, June and Harold Osmond, Dora and Bobby Endicott, Ruby and Sam Williams, Marguerite and David Whyatt, Russell Childs.
Mom was a career caregiver. Raising 4 children, then caring for husband Clyde and finally her mother Mary. We now place her care in the hands of God.
The family would like to thank the staff of 3 South at Corner Brook Long Term Care, the staff of 3CD Western Memorial Regional Hospital, and her second family at Mountainview House, Meadows.
Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street Corner Brook on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be Thursday, March 19th at 2:00 pm at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church, Park Drive with Reverend Edward King officiating, Interment will follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery in Lark Harbour.
