In Loving Memory of John William Maxwell
Sept 8, 1942 - March 24, 2026

It is with great sadness that the family of John William Maxwell announce his passing on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 83.

John leaves to mourn his loving partner and best friend, Carol Parsons; his children Bob, Jeannie Pagnotta (Claudio), Jacqueline (Don), lan, and Regina Angell (Eddie); his stepchildren Terri Walters (Brian) and Luanne Heffern (Tom); grandchildren Brandon (Rayne), Erika, Olivia (Jacob), Ashley (Nicholas), Alishia (Joey) Christopher (Caitlyn), Daniel (Claire), Leah, Kaitlyn (Mitchell) and Joshua; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Also leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his brother Eric; sister Sheila McLeod (Roger); special cousin Cheryl Boone; and Anne Rubia Flumian (mother of his children); as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues.

His parents William and Jean Maxwell and his brother Bruce predeceased John.

John had a long and successful career as a well-respected heavy equipment operator in both Newfoundland and Labrador and Ontario. We cannot count or fathom how many major building projects in which John had a large role in preparing the land. He loved his work and continued as long as he could, working into his 70's. He loved his morning coffee, trying to win that ever-elusive lotto, and riding his motorcycles! Many will miss his quiet presence, as he always said, "You learn a lot when you just listen".

In honor of John's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to visit St. David's Anglican Church in Pasadena on Friday March 27, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. The funeral service will be held at St. David's Anglican Church in Pasadena on Saturday March 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Kris Gosse.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit or a charity of one's choice.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of both the 5C Medicine and Palliative Care Units of Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Your compassion and kindness will always be remembered.
