Obituary of Susanna Roberts

It is with hearts both heavy and grateful that the family of the late Susanna Roberts, lovingly known as Aunt Susie, announce her peaceful passing on April 17th at 4:53 a.m., at the age of 88 beautiful and well-lived years.

Susanna was a woman whose life told a story of strength, devotion, and enduring love. In her final moments she sang, "Jesus loves me" and "thank you Lord for your blessings on me" for as long as she was able. She spoke her final words, and she was held close until her final breath, leaving this world the same way she lived in it; with grace, deep faith, and love.

A matriarch, she carried within her the resilience of her ancestors, those who walked the land before her, who endured, who provided, and who loved fiercely. That same quiet strength lived in her every day, in the way she gave, nurtured, and held her family together through all seasons of life. She was the heart of her family. A mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many.

Raising twelve children with only one hand, she built a legacy rooted in love, sacrifice, and unwavering care. Her home was a place of comfort and belonging, where laughter echoed, stories were shared, their cups were filled, and no one ever left without feeling loved. Through life’s hardships and joys alike, Susanna carried herself with grace. She had a way of making people feel seen, safe, and deeply cared for. She had a love for animals, finding laughter and joy in their companionship. A reflection of the kindness she carried so naturally within her.

Her presence was steady, her love unconditional, and her memory will live on in the lives she shaped and the hearts she filled.

Great-grandchildren Cale, Katie, Jake, Felicity, Finley, Noah, Tori, Indigo, Romie, Arcadius, Susanna, Aubrielle and Odysseus

Siblings Aunt Mary (sister), Aunt Winnie (sister-in-law) and Aunt Florence (sister-in-law)

As well as nieces, nephews of sister Clara and other extended family and friends who considered her their mom.

Predeceased by Husband Walter, two children born sleeping, Mother Ella May, Father George, Brothers Joe, Paul and John, Sister Clara, Granddaughter Kimberley, Great-Grandson Wesley

Friends may visit Calvary Temple on April 20th from 7:00–8:00 p.m. and on April 21st from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on April 21st at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Pentecostal Church, with interment to follow as we lay her to rest beside her beloved husband, Walter—reunited once more in eternal peace.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to her daughters-in-law, Siobhan and Claudine, Daughter Mildred and husband Kelsey Son’s John and Stewart and grandchildren, Aaron, Myah and Faith for their unwavering love, care, and devotion in the days up until her passing. As well as a special thank-you to the compassionate nurses and doctors at St. Clare’s Hospital in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, for their kindness and support.

A heartfelt and special thank you to Claudine, Effie, Jessie, and Les, whose constant care and dedication over the past few years made it possible for Susie to remain in the home she loved for as long as she was able; honoring her wish with dignity, comfort and love.

Though she has left this earthly home, Susanna’s spirit remains woven into the land she loved and yearned to be, carried in the strength of her family, and remembered in every act of love she inspired.

Her love built a family. Her faith carried her through life. And her legacy will live on in every life she touched.

Forever loved. Forever remembered.
