William Isaac Gillingham

March 18,1933 to April 21, 2026

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend at the age of 93. William will be joining the love of his life Beatrice who he spent 68 years of marriage with, she passed in 2021.

Born in Cox’s Cove to Thomas &Hilda Gillingham, both deceased. He leaves with loving memories his sisters,  Marion (Eric deceased) Ivy (Gord deceased) Maisie (deceased) (Wallace) Lillian (Martin both deceased) brother Lloyd (deceased) (Lola) parents in law (George & Matilda Gavin- both deceased) brother in law Steve (Marjorie) sister in laws Kathleen (Austin both deceased ) Julie (Dave both deceased ) and grace ( Gar both deceased) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

They moved to Cormack a short time after marriage in 1952 where they raised 6 wonderful children.  He leaves behind a lifetime of precious memories for his only son Boyd(Mary) and 5 daughters Beverly (Bernie deceased) Susan, Brenda (Myles) Sandra (Clyde) and Cindy (Peter) He was later blessed with 9 grandchildren, (Chris, Crystal, Stephen, Stephanie, Nancy, Connie, Stacey, Boyd and Tyler. ) 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was always so happy to see the kids coming and they were titled shitt legs, his party pooper or pops fartune. He was very proud of each and every one and their accomplishments and always quick to share this pride sharing stories about each of them.

Dad was a very hard working woodsman for the bulk of his working life and it truly was his favorite place to be. He finished off his working life with his son Boyd working at his meat plant.

Dad loved the outdoors  and everything it entailed from skidooing, quadding, fishing, moose hunting,  rabbit catching in goose arm  (as long as Beat cleaned em!) ice fishing in Burn Hill Lakes and many years going to the cabin in Bear Cove.

Dad always kept a garden and took great pride to share his blue  potatoes , the best in Cormack or so he thought. If he was inside he was most likely enjoying family time, making his famous homemade wine or out in his work shop building small Pieces of wooden furniture for his family, having a game of 500’s, cribbage or a game of patience. Or maybe sharing a drink with anyone who’d partake and out to a dance at the community center! He and mom always enjoyed to go to the seniors Club on Monday night for a game of 120’s and he loved a game of darts.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Lanes Retirement Home where dad spent his last 2 1/2 years. He came to enjoy the company there, enjoyed many activities and met a lady friend, Betty who will also miss him dearly.

We would also Like to Thank the palliative care unit at WMRH for their loving care shown to Dad in his final days.

William will be  missed beyond measure but leaves us with many wonderful memories to cherish and a lifetime of love that will never fade.
