Obituary of Dennis Roy Brake

Dennis Roy Brake
December 3, 1958 – April 20, 2026

It is with profound sorrow that the family of the late Dennis Roy Brake announces his passing on April 20, 2026, at the age of 67, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dennis was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador on December 3, 1958, to his cherished parents; the late John L. and Leona Brake. He leaves behind to mourn with fond and loving memories his adored daughter Victoria (AJ), his precious granddaughters; Avery and Alexis, beloved siblings Dorothy (Eric) Hulan, Irene (Arthur) Shears, Glenn (Lisa) Brake, and Susan (Todd) Hulan. Along with many nieces, nephews, numerous family members, friends and Victoria’s mother, Elizabeth.

He was predeceased by his parents and siblings; Walter, John, Leona and as well as many other family members and friends.

Dennis joined the Royal Newfoundland Regiment at 17 years old and spent the next 30 years serving through the military.

We would like to offer a very sincere and special thanks to the whole staff at the Corner Brook Palliative Care Unit for making Dennis’ last 3 months as comfortable as possible and making him feel like he belonged.

As per his wishes cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held at Fillatres Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Sunday April 26 at 1:00pm with funeral service at Fillatres Funeral Home Chapel starting at 2:00pm following the visitation. The burial will follow at the Townsite Anglican Cemetery on Montgomerie Street. We like to welcome anyone following the burial for a gathering that will be held at Dennis’ residence on 207 Humber Road for a celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given to the All-Saints Restoration Fund or a charity of one’s choice.

Dennis’ family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support during this difficult time.
