Arlene Denise Laing

January 5, 1962—May 6, 2026

Our beloved Arlene, passed away on May 6^th, 2026 with family by her side. Arlene was a beacon of light in our lives. Her smile, wit, laughter and kind spirit was a constant source of endearment.

She was a gifted raconteur and athlete, but was most in her element as an amateur gourmet chef, always eager to show her culinary skills to the delight of friends and family. With strength and dignity, Arlene accepted her diagnosis of Alzheimer's.  For six years, she endured the unforgiving and relentless ravage of this disease. Arlene was the mother of Shena (husband, Josh Dovedoff), and Cindy (husband, Ray Acton).  The true treasures in her later years were her grandchildren: Jordyn, Taylor, Mason, Cooper, and Blake.

She shared the last eighteen years of her life with her partner, Barry McFeeters. Her remaining siblings are Doris O’Leary, Fred Laing (wife, Donna), Gladys Watts (husband, Rod), and Boyd Laing.  Other close family members include sister-in-law, Doris Laing and Deborah Lyons.

Arlene was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Myra Laing and her brother, Clayton Laing.

The care and kindness shown to Arlene and her family by the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Bonne Bay Health Center is greatly appreciated.

Arlene’s body has been donated to medical science through the Anatomical Gift Program at Memorial University in St. John’s.
