Obituary of Blanche Bertha Ruth

Blanche Ruth

December 6, 1937 – May 8, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a dear aunt Bertha “Blanche” Ruth at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit, Corner Brook on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the age of 88 years.

She leave to mourn her many nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Barbara Barrett and Gwendolyn Barrett.

She was predeceased by her husband Wallace (Bud) Ruth, her parents John and Alice Barrett, sisters Bessie Bolt, Annie Reid and Marie Pafford, brothers Max, Frank and Charlie, father and mother-in-law Wallace and Effie Ruth, brother-in-law William Ruth (Marion), sisters-in-law Donalda Strickland (William) and Lydia Ruth (Howard).

I would like to thank Joy Boland and her staff at Westmount Estates, where Blanche resided, for their kindness and friendship. She had a lovely room and spent hours sitting by the window overlooking Corner Brook and writing in her daily journal. Blanche was a very quiet person who also enjoyed reading and finding the word books. I would also like to thank the doctors and staff at the palliative care unit who were so caring and made her so comfortable during her illness. I would also like to thank my cousins Paul Ruth and Dean Strickland who spent hours with me, so I didn’t feel alone and were with me when she passed – Jacqueline Lundrigan

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12 1-2 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street from where the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Cynthia Haines Turner officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
