Obituary of Ruth Maidment

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Olga “Ruth” Maidment announce her passing on May 12^th, 2026, at the Labrador Grenfell Health Centre, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL at the age of 94 years.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children: Frank (Pam), Brenda (Albert), Cathy (Rod), Lisa (Curtis) & daughter-in-law: Diane; brother: Paul (Trudy) Cooper; sister: Joan (Robert) Bowyer; grandchildren: Sheri, Edward, Lynn, Terry, Mark, Brian, Leanne, Bradley, Michael, & Tara; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Ruth is predeceased by her husband: Edward Maidment; daughter: Gloria; son: George; parents: Harriet & Plymouth Cooper; brothers: Melvin, Clayton, Valentine, Gene, Ralph, & Charlie; sisters: Gwen & Dulcie; and granddaughter: Tammy.

Friends and family may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Friday, May 15^th between the hours of 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16^th from the United Church in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, beginning at 2:00pm, with Rev. Nellie Thomas officiating. Interment to follow at the United Church Cemetery.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the medical staff at the Labrador Health Centre including the public health nurses.
