It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Ellen “AM” Evoy announce her passing on Sunday, May 17th, 2026 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 74 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children; Rod, Scott (Connie), Terry (Angela) and Stephanie (Shawn); eight grandchildren, Chelsea, Morgan, Dylan (Sam), Dustin (Candice), Emma, Thomas, Theo and Spencer; three great grandchildren, Landon, Nolan and Benjamin; sisters: Gloria (Paul), Marina (George), Maureen (Brian), Elaine (Gord), Marie (Alban) and Geneva; brothers Willis (June), Derek (Mary) and Wayne (Caroline); sister-in-law Judy; special aunt and dear friend, Dorothy (Dot) Companion; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
She is predeceased by her husband Thomas Evoy, parents George and Mildred Hickey, parents-in-law Patrick and Mary Evoy, sisters Doreen and Lorraine, brothers Cyril, Michael and Kevin; brother-in-law Ted and sister-in-law Joan.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 19th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 20th at 10:30 Am from Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Benoit’s Cove with Fr. Lee Lainey officiating. Interment will follow the family plot, Old Roman Catholic cemetery.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff in the ICU at Western Memorial Regional Hospital for their exceptional care of our mother. Also thank you to Gloria, Paul, Shelly and Hannah for being her second family.
As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Our Lady Star of the Sea Memorial fund.
